Steve Stallman is the President for Stallman Marketing, a firm that focuses on marketing and branding by understanding the customer, and then building relationships with those customers. He has 25 years experience as a marketing and sales executive in brand marketing for computer hardware & software, food and the retail industries. Steve has played a significant role in steering the marketing strategies in major companies, and managing multi-million customer databases. Strategic alliances have been developed with major corporations including IBM, HP, Xerox, Pitney Bowes, infoUSA, Sun Microsystems and Palm Computing. He has created and executed strategic plans, consistently yielding +50% sales increases.

One secret to Steve's success has been his ability to identify customer motivations. This is done by designing customized proprietary research studies. He then uses this motivational data to create action-oriented advertising, hitting the consumer's emotional buttons.

He often develops highly creative database driven, personalized direct mail to break through the clutter and achieve high response rates.

Steve uses web sites to build long-term relationships with customers. He recently helped a client with their web site ranking jump from complete anonymity to #1 at both Google & Yahoo, in a very competitive category, through specialized underutilized SEO techniques.

He is proficient in taking new products from concept to national distribution. Some of the products that Steve developed became top sellers, including Naked Juice Green Machine Juice (Division of Chiquita) and Lean Pockets (manufactured by Chef America). To combat the competition, he invented the microwave crisping sleeve used to make Hot Pockets crispy in the microwave.

He is an advocate of good customer service and pursues it with a passion. Steve has taken various courses, including one at Walt Disney World, and has given customer service motivational speeches.

Steve is trained in mass media planning, buying and analysis. He has effectively used direct and loyalty marketing tactics to attain high customer traffic growth. Steve loves to use guerilla marketing and has developed grass root teams to work at retailers and events. He has managed outside agencies and directed an in-house advertising shop. He has built national sales networks, and designed highly creative promotions including sweepstakes. Steve has held various Director and Vice President of Sales & Marketing positions for companies that are leaders in their field. He has first hand experience taking a company through an IPO. Steve joined Smart & Final with the mission of positioning the organization to go public. The IPO, on the NY Stock Exchange, was successfully accomplished within 18 months. He has also helped small companies grow, such as Chef America, which recently sold to Nestle for 2.4 Billion.

A graduate from a top business school in the northeast, Rider University, Steve majored in both Marketing and Management & Organizational Behavior.

Steve is active in many organizations; he is Past President of the DMAsc (Direct Marketing Association of Southern California) and on the board of the Technology Council of Southern California. Steve also taught marketing classes for the Women's Enterprise Development Corporation and is a frequent speaker on a variety of marketing topics.
